PROOFREADING AND EDITING.
PUTTING THE FINISHING TOUCHES
TO YOUR HARD WORK.

WRITE CHOICE = Dr. Jane Scott and Chris Watton

We set up our proofreading business Write Choice in 2016, following careers in the tertiary education (Jane) and marketing sectors (Chris). Based on the Coromandel Peninsula, Aotearoa-New Zealand, we provide copy editing and proofreading services for local, national and international clients, i.e., universities, government and non-government sectors, private sector businesses and individuals, native and non-native speakers of English.

Using Write Choice to proofread your work will improve the overall quality, eliminate errors, ensure that the meaning is clear, and that the words chosen are spelt correctly and are the best possible choice. All this means you can submit your work with confidence.

Jane - who has now edited and proofread over 300 theses, most of which have been PhDs - specialises in academic writing, while Chris focuses on the 'non-academic' side (business, organisations and writers).

Our proofreading jobs range from short articles of a few hundred words to theses in the hundreds of pages, and include:

  •   Academic writing - theses, journal articles

  •   Commercial and business documents

  •   Government and non-government documents

  •   Fiction and non-fiction books and novels

  •   Presentations, articles, blog posts

Our standard proofreading fee is from
NZ$40 per hour (plus GST).

For documents over 3,000 words, send us a section of your document and we will produce an edited sample to give you an idea of the likely cost. We will need you to send your document in (Microsoft) WORD, so that "Track Changes" can be used for error correction and "New Comment" for queries and suggestions.

WHAT IS PROOFREADING?

Every piece of writing is a process, from the original idea to the final text, passing through any or all of a number of stages, drafts, revisions and editing. It consists of grammar, vocabulary, style, layout and more. In some cases, it needs to conform to certain standards and guides (e.g., university, journal and publisher requirements). It's hard work; it's your hard work.

Proofreading is a system of checking these components to ensure they are correct, and that the end product is as clear and concise as possible. It can be done at any time in the writing process, and is often the final step before publication.

Let Write Choice put the finishing touches to all your hard work.

"I would like to acknowledge that Jane has meticulously proofread my thesis so that anybody who checks it attested that it read very well. I really appreciate your endeavour in changing the look of my thesis with your corrections and invaluable suggestions"
